WELDING PRACTICES ON TUESDAY
Basically, every Tuesday, in every week... we have a welding practice class in the workshop which is located near the administration block in the older buildings.
There are two types of welding practices that we are suppose to do,
1) is Electrical welding, and
2) is Gas welding.
Currently we can only practice our skills on electrical welding. For gas welding, we have to wait till our gas supply arrive.
We did have a demo on both gas and electrical welding. Both have its ways to handle and methods on how to weld professionally. And of course both have its dangers.
Electrical welding (above)
The light produced by the electrical welding rod when in came in contact with the metal below is very intense. We had to wear eye cover in order to see what we weld.
We were objected to produce a straight weld.
The aim is to create a perfect (not 100%) straight weld. When our instructor is satisfy with our work, the metals that we weld are tagged with our name and course and we are some what called skilled in this electrical welding.
This practices is needed to help us on our project next year, as I can see at that time, when I was in the workshop, I can see our seniors welding metals together. They say it was for their project. I don't know what project though that they were working on.

Creating straight weld
Hammering is a technique of revealing the real form of the weld. This is because, after we weld, there is actually a layer of 'coating' that covers the weld.
Once we hammer in sideways fashion or sometimes with force, will reveal the weld below it. From there, we can see how perfect or welding is.
A really old cable from the electrical welder machine attached to the
metal table (where we work)...
The cables are worn out :p
